Reduce your stress this Spring and beyond with a Mindfulness Course
Is one of your aims for 2017 to reduce stress and learn to live in the moment? Many of us make resolutions like this for the New Year, but how do we ensure they last way beyond and have a lasting impact on your life?
Mindfulness-based stress reduction has been clinically proven to have clear benefits for physical and mental well-being. Mindfulness offers a way of responding to life, so that rather than being constantly pushed and pulled by it, we can find ways of meeting our experience with more balance and ease.
An eight-week mindfulness-based stress reduction course based, at the Fitzrovia Centre in Central London, will teach you how to:
- Stay in touch with the present moment and be less caught up in negative thought patterns.
- Develop more helpful responses to stress.
- Develop your patience, persistence.
- Enhance an existing meditation practice.
- Use simple meditation techniques which can transform daily life.
The Fitzrovia Centre is within easy reach of Great Portland Street, Goodge Street, Regent’s Park and Oxford Circus tube stations.
The course, led by Rowanne Mackie and Farah Govani, takes place on the following Monday evenings from 6:15 – 8:45pm:
- 20th and 27th March
- 3rd and 10th April
There is also an optional day of practice on Saturday 1st April (10:30am – 4:30pm).
The course comprises of eight weekly structured group sessions plus a one day optional retreat. Participants are invited to develop their own practice at home in between sessions. Course materials and audio recordings are provided to help with this.
Both Rowanne and Farah adhere to the good practice guidelines for teaching mindfulness-based courses published by the UK Network of Mindfulness-Based Teacher Trainers and both trained to teach mindfulness based approaches with Bangor University.
Rowanne Mackie is a counsellor, cognitive behavioural therapist and mindfulness teacher. She trained with Bangor University to teach mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT). Farah Govani is an executive coach, mindfulness teacher and leadership trainer, currently studying for a master’s degree in mindfulness at Bangor University.
“The MBSR course has made me return to the more carefree and relaxed person I was a few years ago. I still take on-board the difficulties of everyday life at work and at home but it doesn’t feel as though there is a lost cause. I face it rather than brush it away.” Natalie
“I have really enjoyed the course, have gained a lot of insight and am pleased I did it.” MBSR participant.
“Farah brings calmness to the room, the programme and individuals.” Sarah
